Last October, our Founder, Karolyn Hart, was invited to talk to the 200 developers that came together at the Samsung Create! conference. When InspireHUB was founded in 2013, it was immediately retained by the Mandela family to help use technology to fight the pediatric healthcare crisis in South Africa. We eventually morphed to help corporations with their communications. In this talk, Karolyn shares the story of how Progressive Web App technology came to the rescue for InspireHUB clients, what the team learned about using bleeding edge technology and how a small, unknown, scrappy group of devs ended up being the first to do a whole lot of cool stuff.
Grab a mug of something hot and lean in for 20 minutes of fun and inspiring storytelling about what it's like to be a rogue band of developers at the beginning of a technology the world had yet to adopt, from an "Aha! moment" in the back of a cab in Nairobi as our first customer helped inform future design, to the teachable moments that helped pave the way for some of consumer technology's most valuable shifts today.

Each year, we publish a white paper to help businesses and their tech leaders make sense of the ever-changing landscape when it comes to communications, collaboration, productivity and engagement. When we shared our first one in 2014, mobile was still the focus, with cell phones being the one device 96% of people had access to at all times.
While that's still true, the way people -- including customers, employees and suppliers -- are using them is changing. One of the biggest shifts? The days of downloading "native apps" from app stores and the endless cycle and expense of having to maintain them across multiple platforms are over, as the "Progressive Web App" technology makes an any-device, anywhere, anytime approach mainstream.
Confused? We've got you! Our new white paper, “The 2019 Future of Apps: Progressive Web Apps Grow and Mature” includes insights on app trends and industry predictions from tech leaders on the current mobile market as the world of “native apps” and “progressive web apps” merge. Here's a taste ...

“Hands up! baby, hands up! Gimme your heart! gimme, gimme your heart! Gimme gimme!” My favourite part of the day on the line had just arrived because Brenda had just put on our two o’clock song as we worked. It always made me laugh because the line (which was made up entirely of women) would all pump their hands in the air at the same time every time the singer said: “Hands up!”
I’m from a manufacturing community where “working on the line” is a right of passage for many and I was no different. As a teenager, my time spent here would be critical in shaping my views on work and also my character. The reality is that this small manufacturer was way ahead of their time. I remember the leaders were very concerned with creating a positive culture. They worked hard to create a team environment and to protect the workplace.

How important is a morale booster to your team? Many communicators are stuck in ancient protocols that leave their internal communications boring and dry. As research points out, employee engagement leads to both a happier workforce and a significantly healthier bottom line.
An increasing number of organizations are finding interesting lessons in the art of play, and more specifically in "gamification." Gamification recognizes that human behaviour revolves around the need for "validation" and "rewards" so finding what things are most meaningful to your employees in those areas and simple ways of "making it so" can be game-changers.
Here are 6 games you can adapt right now...
